SB712 The committee(s) on Health and Human Services (HHS) has scheduled a public hearing on 02-10-25 1:20PM; Conference Room 225 & Videoconference.
You all showed up so tremendously in the house hearing! Your continued support as this moves through the senate side is so deeply appreciated! Get your friends and family involved as well. Advocacy is so great when we do it as a community. Thanking you again for all your heart, time and efforts in pushing this much needed bill along. We are so grateful to and for you all!
(Please note: In the hearing for HB 692 the Department of Human Services (DHS) provided testimony to NOT INCLUDE Family Child Care homes as eligible settings for POD. If you would like to see FCCs continue to be included in SB 712 and remain in discussion for POD eligibility please be sure to call that out and include it your testimony.)
HB 692 Passed through the committee on Human Services and Homelessness. Mahalo to Chair Marten, Vice Chair Olds and committee members for hearing and passing this bill. An extra special to mahalo to our amazing body of advocates. There were over 150 pages of testimony submitted in support of this bill. Community members, teachers, parents, grandparents, organizations, businesses and departments all showed up for our keiki on this one. You all are amazing and appreciated!
This bill will now need to be heard by the committee on Finance and we may need to give an extra push to get Chair Yamashita to schedule a hearing for HB 692. We will keep you posted and be on the look out for action alerts from HCAN Speaks! If you haven't yet signed up for action alerts, you can do so here.
